The exams for the class of 2017 wrapped up on Tuesday and the department says it’s proud that no major incidents were reported.

Over 800,000 candidates sat down for the examinations across the country.

“Marking has begun, especially in Limpopo and Gauteng which started last week because of the volumes of learners that come from those places in particular subjects.

“So we’ve done that, but marking in earnest is going to start across the country.”

Minister Angie Motshekga is expected to announced the results on 4 January.
